Church Welcome Bags

How do you welcome and encourage church newcomers experiencing special needs?

Disability ministry can be as simple as a few members in your congregation helping one family with a special needs child or one couple where a spouse suffers a stroke or disabling injury. Disability ministry begins by making valued connection with one person in the name of Christ — not a full-blown department with a staff and budget. No matter what stage your church is in reaching out to people with special needs, remember that God’s power shows up best in weakness. Thank you for making your church a welcoming place to people with special needs. When we reach out in love to one another, God lives in us, and his love is brought to full expression in us (1 John 4:12).
